AMBER Alert issued for 2 boys kidnapped in Florida - NOLA.com

An AMBER Alert has been issued for two boys who were kidnapped by their parents from their grandmothers house in Florida, officials said Wednesday evening.

Cole Hakken, 4, and Chase Hakken, 2, were last seen on Shady Shores Drive in Tampa, Fla., Florida authorities said. The children may be in the company of their parents, Joshua Hakken, 35, and Sharyn Hakken, 34.

The Louisiana State Police reported the the couple has ties to the Slidell area and their parental rights were recently terminated.

They may be traveling in a black 2006 GMC Sierra truck bearing the license plate number U95KT, the alert said.

Cole Hakken is described as being 3 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 44 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Chase Hakken is 3 feet tall and weighs 33 pounds. He also has brown hair and brown eyes.

Florida Deputies told WFLA, a Tampa television station, Joshua Hakken broke into the home of Patricia Hauser, his mother-in-law, around 6:30 Wednesday morning. He tied her up and fled with the children in her 2009 silver Toyota Camry.

The vehicle was recovered a few blocks from Hauser's residence and investigators believe the family escaped in their own car, the black pickup truck.

A news release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said, "both suspects are anti-government and have attempted a previous abduction at gun point in Louisiana."

A message left by NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune for Larry McKinnon, a detective with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, was not immediately returned Wednesday evening.

McKinnon told the Tampa Tribune Joshua Hakken and his wife should be considered armed and dangerous. The paper also reported the children's father showed up at their temporary foster care after his arrest and allegedly beat on the door and waved a gun around, the sheriff's office said.

A search warrant has been served as Joshua and Sharyn Hakken's home in South Tampa and the sheriff's office has issued a warrant for Joshua Hakken's arrest. He's been charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of child neglect, two counts of false imprisonment, one count of burglary with battery and one count of grand theft auto.

NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune reported last June Joshua Hakken had been arrested by the Slidell Police for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.

The Louisiana State Police has issued a Level II - endangered missing advisory in Louisiana. Officials with the LSP said on their Facebook page they will update the advisory to an AMBER alert if and when "it is believed the children/suspects are in/near LA," and that Florida officials have asked Georgia and Alabama to issue similar advisories.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts should contact the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Department at 813-247-8200 or 911, the alert said.

An earlier version of this story quoted a corporal from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office as saying the Hakkens had attended an anti-government rally in Louisiana. When contacted by NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, officials from the Slidell Police Department, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office were unable to confirm that information or cite where it came from.

Communist Vietnam -- Human Trafficker Extraordinaire - American Thinker

Vietnam is now the proud possessor of the inglorious title "The Worst Human Rights Violator in Southeast Asia," according to recent testimony before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. State-affiliated labor export companies are major suppliers of men, women, and children to the forced labor and sex trafficking markets, while government officials profit from kickbacks. Statistics on Vietnam's human trafficking range widely; though accurate information about this communist country is hard to find. Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security offers an official figure of 2,935 Vietnamese who were subjected to human trafficking between 2004 and 2009. However, international organizations report a far larger number; more than 400,000 victims since 1990. Even this covers only those reported as victims, omitting untold tens of thousands of abuses that go unnoticed, especially in the labor force. Exporting workers is nothing new for Vietnam. After the 1975 communist ta

Richie Havens dies at 72; singer became Woodstock's opening act - Los Angeles Times

Richie Havens, the veteran folk singer whose frenetic guitar strumming and impassioned vocals made him one of the defining voices and faces of Woodstock and 1960s pop music, died Monday of a heart attack at his home in Jersey City, N.J. He was 72. His death was confirmed by his booking agent, Tim Drake. The Brooklyn native with the powerful ripsaw voice galvanized rock fans as the opening act at Woodstock, the festival billed as "Three Days of Peace and Music" in upstate New York in August 1969. His performance of "Freedom/Motherless Child," adapted from a black spiritual he learned as a child, became a landmark anthem of the event, which included performances by Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. "Richie Havens was one of the nicest, most generous and pure individuals I have ever met," Stephen Stills said in a statement Monday. "He always caught fire every time he played." Originally scheduled as the fifth act o
